MountainSki.eu concerns on different activites connected with snow or ice in mountains. Main activities are skialpinism and splitboard.
There is not enough snow in our home mountains Beskydy, so we have started to look for the higher mountains, and especially with more snow. The choice fell on Italy, mainly due to the affordability of housing, snow hight and cheap wine. Foppolo skiing resort, which is above Bergamo, none of us know, but Google Earth promised good lines.
We waited a long time, but it happened to. At Prague was snowing long time ago, but we in the Beskydy mountain haven’t this lucky this year utill now. The last weekend I and Tom (čertík bertík) made some alpine touring, it was quite good except for the fact that it wasn’t much snow, and sticks was everywhere. Tomas skis know‘s aboute that… We are thinking aboute next time, because if this type of winters will continue we will must take to trip a saw and ax.
Since the depth of snow in the Beskydy Mountains is critical for alpine touring / freeride, we decided to go to Slovakia on Saturday January 23. The server laviny.sk shows Chopok (Nizke Tatry) 90cm, so there is no problem. That’s plan but we hope that the site is right, otherwise our skis the will be cut like chips. In the end everything turned out well.
I am getting out the chair lift. I have got on it at the hotel – It is perhaps half an hour, well to be accurate – on the first out of three sections of the lift – First 3-chairlift, then quite fast 4-chairlift and finally 3-chairlift again. Altimeter shows 3000 – about a mile more then the the hotel lies. All around I can see only snowy hills of Caucasus. Incredible great view. It is only twenty hours ago, this hilarious action has began in Prague airport by collecting of clothing and ski – a presents from Hannah. We are on the Hannah expedition.
This year CK Alpina, for which I work as a guide, has extended its traditional range of winter holidays on Ukraine and the Balkans an entirely new ski areas in the Austria and Slovenia. Maybe you have your favourite resorts and slopes, but why not try something new this year?
From 26 to 30 December 2009 classic winter mountaineering camp was held by 155th HO Vsetín. Chata pod Rysmi was chosen as a place of action. Although we are not members, we participated at this event. Weather forecast changed almost every hour and the Christmas rain did not bode well, so the result seems to be at least uncertain, particularly with regard to the freeride riding in powder.

We spent several days with skialpinism and climbing in High Tatras, Slovakia at the end of December 2009. This year we chose cottage Chata pod Rysmi (2250 m). Original invitation is at Zimní výcvikový tábor na Chatě pod Rysmi from 155. Mountaineering club Vsetín. Previous weather was quite changeable including raining also at altituted above 2000 meters. This weather caused that group of freeriders was not riding almost at all. Only Devil-Certink has jumped twice.
